Friday Special Events 8:00am - 8:45am - Morning Meditation with Ganesh Das - Open to all.
Experience a healing meditation that begins with chanting a Sanskrit mantra to calm and purify the mind and atmosphere. After we go over detailed directions on how to sit and relax the physical body while maintaining a state of receptivity and attention, we'll practice the Jivamukti meditation method for 20 minutes. This involves following the breath while systematically letting go of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in order to awaken the witness consciousness (sakshi). We'll follow the silent meditation with a period of relaxation and chanting. Finally, we'll close with a reading and a question-and-answer session.
1:00pm - 2:00pm - Community Class with Kay Kay Clivio - Open to all.
Flow through an eloquent sequence of diverse poses in an open level Vinyasa class.
7:30pm - 11:30pm - Get Your Dance On -
Get Your Dance On is a high vibe dance party that welcomes absolutely everyone. Born in NYC, we are festival, house party, tea lounge, and temple. The night begins with a yoga class led by Elena Brower and Dana Flynn, featuring the legendary India-infused beats of DJ Drez, and continues with a trance dance lead by Shiva Rea and Da'Riddim INya Drum Ensemble. Then the party opens up into two rooms: Drez and Da'Riddim INya will keep the high energy dance room going while the Didge Project and House of Waters play mellow grooves and Craig Anthony Miller whips up live paintings in the chill space.

Each day we are exposed to toxins that affect our energy, health, and vitality. Many of the ailments and diseases today--including fatigue, weight gain, high blood pressure, and depression--can be attributed to poor diet, environmental stressors, lack of exercise, and repressed emotions. Come explore how we can improve our physical health, increase our vitality, decrease our susceptibility to illness and disease, balance our emotions, and develop practical tools for managing stress. We'll practice creative yoga sequences using three internal components for cleansing: abdominal compression, decompression, and twists. The practice will include Sun Salutations A and B, detox standing sequences, inverted poses, breathing exercises, and restoratives. As you examine your habits and become proactive about your health, you'll more easily choose what is best for your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Prana is the pattern of the inner breath governing inhalation. Apana is the pattern governing exhalation. Linking these two patterns together internally is the very foundation of yoga posture and pranayama. This linkage is also at the heart of the Ashtanga vinyasa system, creating the core postures, bandhas, drishtis, and breathing rhythms. These core techniques are so simple and yet so subtle that most practitioners overlook them. By exploring them, you'll find new freedom and ease in your practice.
Discussion and asana practice.

A strong defense system and strong immunity is the ultimate aim of a yoga practice. Come learn how yoga postures affect the lymph channels, serve as a tonic for the glands and membranes, and aid in the irrigation of lymph fluid throughout the lymph nodes and vessels to create a healthy and radiant immune system. We'll look at yoga practice as preventative medicine warding off the flu and respiratory tract infection, and also review the power of "psychic immunity," that part of our mind and body that must mindfully ward off negative emotion.
What to bring: A strap, block, and blanket. Discussion and asana.

When we are threatened, it is all too easy to react with anger. When we're hit, we want to hit back. There are alternatives that are powerful without being destructive. Love is immensely powerful. Unifying softness and toughness as part of the warrior's path is a key element. If we are willing to be vulnerable, from that vulnerability we can also discover invincibility. Having nothing to lose, we cannot be defeated. Come discover how your yoga and meditation practice can help you develop this inner unity.
