H1N1 (Swine Flu) UPDATE 4/30/09
Despite the recent H1N1 (Swine Flu) outbreak, The Yoga Journal New York City Conference is going on as planned. We are monitoring the CDC and WHO and will keep you apprised of any further updates. Keep checking here for further updates.
Hotel Information
The conference will be held in Midtown Manhattan at the
newly redesigned Hilton New York, 1335 Avenue of the
Americas, NYC 10019 (6th Avenue between W. 53rd and W.
54th). The Hilton New York is a sophisticated international
hotel conveniently located at Radio City Music Hall and
Rockefeller Center, and in the midst of business headquarters
and media centers. The hotel is also near Broadway theatres
and Times Square, one block from Fifth Avenue shopping,
and steps from legendary attractions such as the Museum of
Modern Art, Central Park, and Carnegie Hall.
All lodging must be booked directly with the Hilton by calling
212-586-7000 or 1-800-HILTONS. Please call to inquire about the current rate. Space is limited;
we encourage you to make your reservation early. A nonrefundable first-night
deposit must be made with your credit card when you secure
your reservation.
Meals at the conference are not included with your registration.
There are four restaurants on the premises and many dining
options in the surrounding area.
Transportation Information
The Hilton New York can be easily reached from La Guardia,
John F. Kennedy, and Newark airports. Taxi fair ranges from
$35 (La Guardia) to $65 (Newark) not including tolls/gratuity.
Shared shuttle service is available from all three airports through Airlink for under $25 and can be booked online. With advance reservations through the Hilton Transportation
Desk at 212-247-0897, a return Airlink shuttle service is also available from the hotel.
Yoga Gear and Props
We strongly suggest that you bring a yoga mat,
blanket, and strap. See course descriptions for
other required items. Some of these items will
also be available for sale on-site during limited
marketplace hours.
Special Events
Tickets for special events are not sent via mail. Your badge will show proof of payment at the door. If you are not a conference attendee, please go to the will call line or the registration desk with a photo ID.
Badges
Conference badges will be presented to you upon conference
check-in and will be your only admission to events.
Class Changes
There is a $10 fee for each class change made after registration.
Massage
Method Fitness at the Hilton New York will provide an assortment of massage and wellness services to Yoga Journal attendees during the conference. Please call 212-261-5903 and mention "Yoga Journal" to receive a 15% discount.
Continuing Education Credits
Yoga Journal is recognized by the American Council on Exercise (ACE ) as a continuing education specialist, and is currently under review for CECs for athletic and fitness professionals. Approved courses will be noted online two months prior to the conference. Stop by the Registration Desk on site for information on CECs provided by ACE. Certificates will be available for $15 each. For Yoga Alliance credits, simply save a copy of your class record (either your badge or a confirmation email). Separate certificates are not needed for Yoga Alliance. If you need a certificate of completion, they are available at the Registration Desk and must be requested and picked up at the conference. Any certificate not picked up at the conference will be mailed on request for a $5 fee.
Scholarship Program
Yoga Journal is pleased to announce a scholarship program to enable those with a limited income to participate in our conferences. Work Exchange/Volunteer Program
Join our conference management team and
work behind the scenes. Work exchange volunteers
do not register for classes but can participate in
classes on a space-available basis when not
fulfilling their assigned duties. Work exchange
volunteers pay a nominal fee to participate.
