We'll learn postural-alignment cues and fascial techniques to stabilize and release the neck-shoulder axis and regulate prana. Modern Energy Circuits and PranayamaInstructor: Richard Rosen
In traditional hatha yoga, vital energy or prana is said to circulate through the body in subtle channels called nadis. Because they are subtle, they're difficult to contact. But modern yogis have discovered an equivalent network of energetic "circuits," lines of imaginary force that mostly run along the surface of the body. They are thus much more accessible to the student, whether in performing a successful asana or as "seeds" for meditation. We'll trace, in an asana sequence, the major "modern nadis" of the legs and arms, torso, and head, then apply what we've learned to a beginning pranayama practice

Gateway to Prana: Empowering the Neck/Shoulder Axis in VinyasaInstructor: Bo Forbes
The neck-shoulder axis is a gateway to pranic regulation and emotional health. Freedom in this axis helps the front body and heart area to open. Having either limited mobility or stability can lead to "closed-heart syndrome" and pranic dysregulation, in which the cervical spine and rotator cuff become vulnerable to injury, and the emotional body to anxiety and depression. We'll learn postural-alignment cues and fascial techniques to stabilize and release the neck-shoulder axis and regulate prana. Then we'll explore asana adaptations to help prevent injury to the neck and shoulders in your asana practice. These tools will help you increase pranic flow, regulate the nervous system, enhance emotional well-being, and facilitate self-expression.

Stress and disturbing emotions play a primary role in contributing to disease. Yoga has tremendous potential for assisting the general population with reducing stress and the effects of stress-related diseases. Come learn the techniques that Gary used in a 12-week multiregion study on stress management for Aetna Insurance Company. The intervention introduced tools for managing stress including asana, breathing techniques, relaxation, mental techniques, and education. The data analysis showed statistically significant results in reducing stress. Through lecture and practice, Gary will cover methods used in the study to relieve musculoskeletal tension and headaches, improve sleep, increase feelings of well-being, and improve coping strategies for dealing with stressful events and the subsequent negative symptoms.

This Sadhana prepares our psyches to excel in the new environments in the decades that follow. During the "ambrosial hours" (the two and a half hours just before sunrise), before you face the world each day, do yourself a favor and tune up your nervous system and attune yourself to your highest inner self. Panel Discussion: May I Be HappyInstructor: Kathryn Budig & Cyndi Lee & Les Leventhal & Kaitlin Quistgaard
Yoga asana practice offers us a healthy, positive way of relating to our body that is based on how we feel, not how we look. But when we come to the mat, we bring our mind along with our body, which can often include old patterns of insecurity, self-judgment, and wishful thinking that our body were different. How does the yoga media propagate unrealistic body images? Can the practice of yoga really offer us the contentment, or santosha, promised in classic yoga philosophy?
Join Kathryn Budig, Cyndi Lee, Les Leventhal, and Kaitlin Quistgaard as they explore how yoga's focus on the body can stir up feelings of low self-esteem, but can also help people feel better about their bodies--and themselves--than ever before.
