We'll dispel some of the common misunderstandings and misconceptions of yoga history and philosophy, as well as harmful asana, pranayama, and meditation instruction and practices. And in their place, we'll build knowledge that is based on tried and true research, both academic and experiential, to help you bring your practice into alignment with the best of two yoga worlds, the traditional and the modern.

Join Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee as they introduce the Urban Zen Integrative Therapy (UZIT) program, part of YogaWorks' Continuing Education Program. UZIT integrates Eastern healing techniques with Western medicine, and the course is designed for yogis and health care practitioners for both self-care and the care of others. Students will briefly experience the five healing modalities: yoga, Reiki, essential-oil therapy, nutrition, and contemplative care—all of which are taught in the full program at YogaWorks Studios.
What to bring: Bring your own brown bag lunch; tea provided by YogaWorks. Free and open to all.

Then, feel your spine open like water into backbends, transitioning through neutral poses to arm balances to balance out your energy for meditation. More than just getting into or not getting into the pose, it is important to understand the energetic patterns that make up this sacred matrix. By learning the components separately and then layering them together in a harmonic sequence everyone can get the essence of this architecture. When nurtured properly this pose supports our spine effortlessly without violence.
