We'll discuss gravity's effects on the body and how certain positions put leverage and strenuous loads on the spine and other joints. Then we'll work on poses and teaching techniques so teachers can use proper body mechanics as they demonstrate and adjust students. **This class has been approved by American Council on Exercise (ACE) for 0.3 CECs.**

Bearing Life's Weight: The Sacrum and Lower Back

The sacroiliac joint bears the weight of the entire spine and upper body; the lower back rises from the sacrum and depends on the sacral alignment for stability. Learn the anatomy of the sacroiliac joint and lower back and how to practice and teach asana safely and effectively. Lecture and asana. Bring a mat, a block, a blanket, and two straps.
