Judith Hanson Lasater is president of the California Yoga Teachers Association and cofounder of Yoga Journal. A yoga teacher since 1971 and a practicing physical therapist, she holds a Ph.D. in East-West psychology and is the author of Living Your Yoga: Finding the Spiritual in Everyday Life.

Probably no pain is more common in yoga practice than lower back pain. We'll study the anatomy of the area, identify common reasons for pain, then practice with this awareness and apply therapeutic movements as needed.

What is yoga, and why do we do it? We'll help answer this question by introducing the basic philosophy of asana and the wider practice of yoga. We'll discuss what we gain from the practice and why it affects us so strongly. Lecture and discussion. This lecture will be combined with students from Beginners Conference B.



Arm Balances and Chaturanga for the Strength-Challenged

Are your triceps nonexistent? Do you slip out of class when it's time for Chaturanga? We'll practice challenging poses in a fun and easy way, learning how to slowly build strength in your arms and shoulders. Bring a block , two blankets, and a strap. Restorative Yoga
