Come deepen your understanding and practice of inversions. We'll demystify some of the common misgivings about teaching inversions—and offer variations for teaching beginners. While we'll focus on Shoulderstand and Headstand, we'll also include other inversions, strengthening postures, and shoulder openers. Bring a strap, block, and two blankets.

Learn to create a safe and effective therapeutic practice with practical modifications. We'll focus on adapting the classic asanas and breathing patterns, and explore the use of pranayama and meditation for various therapeutic needs. Lecture, discussion, and practice.

Backbends are some of the most stimulating and liberating poses in yoga. We'll explore how thoughtful sequencing and alignment instruction can open and educate body and mind so that students can experience the expansiveness and joy at the heart of a healthy backbend. Bring a block and a strap. Mostly asana.

Sequencing is the science that teaches us how to fulfill the potential of practice and our capacity as teachers. Integrating the wisdom of yoga, anatomy, Ayurveda, and Tantra, our exploration focuses on the dynamic combinations of asana, bandha, and breath to shape how we want to transform body, mind, and beyond.

Protect yourself and your students from common injuries and strains. We'll discuss gravity's effects on the body and how certain positions put leverage and strenuous loads on the spine and other joints. Then we'll work on poses and teaching techniques so teachers can use proper body mechanics as they demonstrate and adjust students.
Instructor: Alanna Kaivalya Sunday, November 16 9:00am-12:00pm: Continuing Education
Learn the principles of adjustments that can be applied with any yoga student, and practice hands-on adjustments with partners. We'll cover various types of adjusting, from light to moderate, for a variety of poses. Lecture and asana.
